If you are looking for a special place to escape in the Languedoc, Provence and Ardèche, come and discover our stone-walled manor house, full of history and charm! Set in 4.5 ha with a landscaped park of 1ha boasting rock gardens, topiaries, walkways of olive trees and lavender and a beautiful 6 x 12m heated pool with its pool house.
House and its history
Le Mas was built in the 17th century for the Vogue family. Several generations of this noble family lived at Saumanas, probably leaving it at the time of the Revolution. In the 19th century, a part of the building was converted into a silk production premises.
This unique house with its mature gardens, its avenue of cypress and olive trees and Italian inspired landscaping is now ready to welcome you in, with a choice of seven beautiful bedrooms.
Our house offers you various areas where you can relax: the heated swimming pool, several panoramic terraces to enjoy the beautiful landscape.

The panoramic seating area with views of Mont Ventoux and the village of Issirac: furnished with wrought iron garden furniture.
The heated pool 6×12 m. Lie at the water’s edge and forget everyday life. Enjoy the turquoise water while soaking up the Mediterranean sun.
The terrace with its impressive and panoramic views, stretching from the foothills of the Alps, Mont Ventoux, and on to the Cévennes.
The pergola in the garden with panoramic views – perfect for an apéritif or romantic moment!
A flowery courtyard in the shade to read a book, chat or enjoy a coffee – especially appreciated by our guests during the heat of the day.
In the morning, breakfast can be enjoyed in the vaulted dining room on the covered terrace or on the outdoor panoramic terrace. A Barbecue and pizza oven are available to guests.
Billiard room with television and board games. Internet access is freely available to guests.
The small lounge on the ground floor is an invitation to relax.
Sport & Fun Activities
Unique opportunity to play beach volleyball far from the crowded coast. A 25m x16m professional sized volleyball field between lavender and vineyards is under construction.
Jeu de boules (pétanque)
Feel like a local – play boules and have a glass of pastis! Our Petanque field is in the Italian garden between roses, cypresses, geometric shaped evergreens and topiaries.
Swimming and aqua gym
The 6×12 m heated pool provides the opportunity for an aqua gym work out with swim noodles and balls. More sports equipment is available (cross country and abdominal shaper)
Meditation and deep-breathing in the garden or on the terrace with panoramic views, stretching from the foothills of the Alps, Mont Ventoux, and on to the Cévennes. Yoga mats are available.
Discover the picturesque and peaceful country side on bike rides between the lavender fields and vineyards.
Enjoy the sensation of fresh water on a hot summer day by canoeing on the rivers Ardèche and Cèze. For all ages- starting from a relaxing 7km stretch, a more challenging 12 km one or 24 km for the fittest.
Hiking, nordic walking
Discover unspoiled landscapes, historical sites and small, picturesque villages in the Ardèche, along one of the many hiking trails.
Work your muscles by climbing trees in the forest. Different levels of difficulty according to age and fitness.
Enjoy a ride in the countryside in the heart of the Cèze valley.
Le Mas is located at the crossroads of the fascinating regions of Provence, the Cevennes and the Ardèche and offers an interesting mix of history, culture and nature. Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Uzes, the Pont du Gard, Nimes and Avignon are all nearby and the splendid nature in the valleys of the Ardèche, Cèze and the Cevennes offer a wide variety of sporting activities.
Discover the history and culture of the region
Visit and explore cities rich with art and history: Ancient Roman monuments such as the amphitheatres in Nimes and Orange, the aquaduct at Pont du Gard, followed by the medieval Popes’ Palace and the Bridge of Avignon and Uzès- “the first Duchy of France” with its fortifications and stately palace, spanning eight centuries of art and history.
There are also several smaller, traditional villages worth exploring, including three villages classified among the ‘most beautiful villages in France: la Roque sur Cèze, in an attractive position on the side of a steep hill; Aigueze above the river Ardèche; and Monclus.
The Gorges de l’Ardèche, Cévennes, the Cèze valley with their beautiful landscape and intriguing caves are not to be missed.
Follow the marked footpaths and mountain bike paths crisscrossing the wooded scrubland and lavender fields and enjoy exceptional views. Many sports activities can be enjoyed: river swimming, canoeing, fishing, downhill adventure, cave visits, mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding and much more.
Go back to prehistoric times and visit the caves: Aven d’Orgnac and Chauvet with the most famous cave art paintings which date from more than 30,000 years ago.
Discover the gastronomic wealth of the region
You can discover local products in the street markets in Barjac, Uzès, Pont Saint Esprit, Aiguèze or directly from local producers (e.g. the delicious goat cheese from the farm in Issirac). Absorb the mixture of colours and fragrance of thyme, rosemary, lavender, tapenade, honey, olive oil, garlic. All the flavours of Provence are here and deciding where to buy is a challenge!

For wine lovers, the area offers many wine tasting opportunities and you can also take home a souvenir of your Languedoc trip! For true wine connoisseurs, the vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape are nearby.
